By Spring 2012, work was more than halfway complete on the South Fraser Perimeter Road, a $1.3 billion project serving Metro Vancouver. It is the largest civil construction project Ledcor has worked on in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland.
The four-year design and construction process included a new 34 kilometer (21 mile) and four-lane highway on the south side of the Fraser River. With connections to Highway 99, Highway 91, the Trans-Canada Highway, the Pattullo Bridge, and the Golden Ears Bridge, the route was a major step towards improving Metro Vancouver’s Road network. It removes heavy truck traffic from local roads, reduces travel times through the region, and improves access to major trade gateways and industrial areas.
As part of the Fraser Transportation Group, Ledcor partnered with Dragados, BellPacific, and Vancouver Pile Driving to complete the project. We also share a 20-year commitment to operating and maintaining the road with ACS Infrastructure Canada.
Traffic was scheduled to be on the road in 2013.
