The four-level parkade will provide a total of 1,005 stalls, increasing the current capacity by 686. The precast concrete structure, consisting of over 592 precast panels range in size up to 60 feet long, is largely being manufactured offsite and assembled with the aid of a crawler crane.
The project incorporates several lighting and design features to improve safety including the use of natural lighting, glass-backed elevator lobbies, open stairs and lobbies, elimination of hiding places, and clear sight lines. Perimeter access management, security and deterrent signage, suicide prevention measures, were also part of the design.
The parkade will also provide the community with secure bicycle storage, water efficient landscaping, light pollution reduction, a pocket park, and healing gardens.
