Reaching new heights both vertically and sustainably, The Stack transforms the Vancouver skyline. Rising to a height of 161 m. (530 ft.), it is the tallest office building in Vancouver and offer 36 levels and 50,168 sq. m. (540,000 sq. ft.) of premium AAA-class office space with restaurants and retail space at ground level and four levels of below-grade parking.
The unique design includes four separate boxes that twist as the tower climbs, allowing for six private decks. Wellness features include smart connectivity, fitness amenities, a ground-level pocket park, shared rooftop garden, destination dining, and oversize floor-to-ceiling windows to allow in natural lighting. The Stack was zoned within the City’s Policy for Higher Buildings, which enables extra height allowance in exchange for a higher standard of architectural and sustainable design and is Canada’s first commercial high-rise tower to be awarded the CAGBC’s Zero Carbon Building – Design Certification and is also targeting LEED Platinum Core and Shell.
Due to the size and dense urban location of this project, it was essential to consider the building holistically to drive our Zero Carbon goal. Some of the sustainable features incorporated include passive design, solar shading, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, demand-controlled ventilation, reduced GHG emissions to satisfy the city’s Higher Buildings Policy, rain management and stormwater systems, and a zero-waste management plan.
