On May 4, 2014, Ledcor proudly participated in the Walk so Kids Can Talk, a fun, non-competitive 5 km route that draws thousands of participants across Canada to raise funds in support of Kids Help Phone. This year, Ledcor raised an amazing $173,975 in employee fundraising and corporate match, with participants walking in Vancouver and Edmonton, and was the top corporate donor in both locations.
Held on the first Sunday in May since 2002, the walk is Canada’s largest for child and youth mental health and well-being, and kicks off Mental Health Week in Canada each year. Kids Help Phone is a free, anonymous, and professional counselling service supporting the mental and emotional well-being of the 6.5 million kids across Canada, ages 5 to 20.
Over 340 Ledcor staff, family members, and four-legged friends participated in this year’s walk. Ledcor’s Peter Hrdlitschka, President of Ledcor Construction for Western Canada, was Vancouver’s leading individual fundraiser for the walk with an astounding $54,628 in personal pledges. Ledcor once again demonstrated its commitment to making a social investment in children, youth, families, and communities by being a site sponsor in both locations, Vancouver and Edmonton.
