Ledcor employees across North America once again joined together in November 2020 to support the Movember Foundation, an organization that tackles some of the most significant physical and mental health issues men face on a global scale. Every November, the Ledcor Movember team is committed to raising funds and promoting awareness to the cause by accepting a challenge to grow a mustache or beard during the month.
The challenges presented by COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 paved the way for new and creative ways to connect. The team, lead by Rob Reid and Scott Brattly, hosted a Movember lunch and learn, where individuals could share their personal health stories and, ultimately, create some very powerful and emotional moments. This momentum helped drive the team to raise more than $112,000 with the corporate match.
Movember is for everyone – Mo Bros and Mo Sistas come together every year to make a difference to this important cause. While many people become involved to raise awareness about prostate cancer, support for mental health issues has also become more prevalent. "As Movember has become more about recognizing issues behind mental health and identifying some of those early warning signs, that's become more of a focus," said Rob Reid. "Having everyone on a call, sharing their stories and their emotions is so powerful." More than $534,000 has been raised across Ledcor since 2011 with the corporate match.
The Movember Foundation is an international charity that supports men's health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. For more information on the Movember campaign and the important programs it supports, please visit the Movember Foundation.
