On August 20th, 2021, Ledcor hosted their first Annual Charity Golf Cup in partnership with Sunbelt Rentals. The tournament was well-attended with nearly 150 golfers and more than 180 in attendance for the banquet. A tremendous amount of positive feedback was received, with several participants going so far as to say it was the best golf tournament they have ever competed in.
Donations from local sponsors provided a variety of great prizes at different holes throughout the course. The featured live auction included big-ticket items like Traeger smokers, BBQs, large screen TVs, a PGA golf bag, toolboxes, and a trip to Kelowna with airfare, accommodations and a local winery trip included.
In total, more than 900 numbered golf balls were sold. They were then put into the box of a 777 Haul Truck and dumped onto the grass where a target had been placed, and whichever ball landed on the target then won some great prizes.
An impressive $110,997.82 was raised and funds will be split between the Northern Lights Health Foundation and Amelia Powder’s family. Amelia is a brave 10-year-old member of the Fort McKay First Nation who is fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia. That is more than $55,000 for each cause!
The support from both Ledcor and Sunbelt was amazing and would not have been possible without the volunteers who stepped up to make the tournament the success it was:
Brent Anderson | Karlee Gulevich | Luke Strom |
Hailey Blank | Kym Gulevich | Megan Thomson |
Bill Briscoe | Cody Lees | Amanda Weisbrod |
Brian Downey | Logan Lundy | Katie White |
Jovan Draca | Eddie McCann | Kendra Young |
Patrick Driscoll | Ben Millis | Lori Zukowsky |
Brian Drofyshyn | Nicola Scott | Luke Strom |
Krianna Gregory | Morgan Smith |
“We are all extremely happy with how everything went, and it feels really good to be able to raise this kind of money for such a great cause,” offered Colin Gulevich, Equipment Operations Manager at Ledcor. He commented that it was a delight to work with Hailey Blank from Sunbelt Rentals on the tournament, as both companies share the same values when it comes to giving back to the communities we do business in. “There is no question that relationships matter when putting together an event like this, as the support we received from the community and the industry was phenomenal!”
The team looks forward to planning the second annual event next year. Several of the companies involved have already reached out to confirm they have a sponsorship spot for the 2022 tournament, ensuring that Ledcor and Sunbelt can – once again - hope for a successful fundraising event.
