Ledcor Cares

On Friday, May 15, Ledcor opened its doors to the public and hosted its first ever on-site mobile blood donation clinic at its Edmonton office. Over 100 people, including many generous employees, showed their commitment to saving lives by booking an appointment to give blood at the clinic. Thanks to these efforts, a total of 55 units of blood were collected during the 4-hour clinic.

Over 2000 units of blood are needed every day in hospitals across Canada and a single blood donation can help to save up to three lives. People need blood and blood products for many reasons, such as organ transplants, bypasses, hip replacements, and to treat illnesses like cancer.

Ledcor has been participating in the Canadian Blood Service’s Partners for Life Program since 2007. The organization manages the national supply of blood, blood products and stem cells, and related services for all the provinces and territories, excluding Quebec. Partners for Life is a nationwide program that gives teams within Canadian companies, government agencies, community groups, and more the opportunity to show their commitment to saving lives by donating. Since our initial involvement, Ledcor has expanded the once Edmonton-only initiative to include both Vancouver and Calgary branch offices.
