In early June, employees in Ledcor’s Edmonton and Calgary offices raised over $14,000 in an annual fundraiser organized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation called the Corporate Big Bike Challenge. The funds raised go towards research that is desperately needed to develop life-saving treatments that bring hope to heart disease and stroke patients.
The Heart and Stroke Big Bike is a team event geared towards companies, community organizations, and groups. Teams are made up of 29 enthusiastic riders who each commit to raising $50 or more to support the cause. On event day, a driver from the foundation accompanies employees as they pedal around their community for 20 minutes on a 30 seater bike for two kilometers.
The Edmonton ride day took place on June 11th. It started at Ledcor’s main office where riders congregated in the front lobby with their Corporate Challenge t-shirts and fun costumes for the ride.
Ledcor’s Calgary team participated on June 18th at the Calgary main office, raising a total of $6,533 and celebrating a turnout of 34 riders clad in superhero costumes.
While the Big Bike Challenge took place on separate days and in different communities, Ledcor employees were united in spirit. With the combined forces of the teams in both cities, successes were abundant, with Ledcor winning the Big Bike Challenge in Edmonton, teams in both locations achieving VIP donor status, and raising a total of $14,417.50 in a combined effort for the foundation. Ledcor is proud that our employees are making a difference and supporting life-saving research.
