Ledcor’s participation in this year’s Walk so Kids Can Talk for Kids Help Phone was a great success. With employee donations and the corporate match, Ledcor raised $198,374 for the charity. Ledcor has been involved with this important cause for the past six years, raising a cumulative total of $880,509 to date.
For the 2016 walk, Ledcor participated in three regional initiatives; Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. With an impressive turn-out of nearly 300 participants over the three cities, a well-deserved thank you goes out to the organizing committees and team leaders. The Calgary committee consisted of: Tracey Henderson, Hope Johnson and Suzi Luzi. In Edmonton: Leanne Baker, Nicola Scott, Lora Linklater, Kayla Sommer, Sue Roberts-Jewell, Julie Baker, and Kristina Ondrias. Finally, in Vancouver: Peter Hrdlitschka, Lori Podnevar, Caitlin Sharman, Kayla Bordignon, Randall Williams, Vanessa Hawk, Firman Basir, Jaqueline Hillary, Arlene Faelnar, Colleen Reid, Ed Collins, Grant Diener, Sandra Pasqualini, Kevin McLean, Kyla Fraser, Laura Steffins, Nicole Strong, Sherman Woo, Venus Choi, and Danielle Langlais.
Kids Help Phone provides counselling services to children and youth and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week either by phone or through their website. It gives kids the tools and resources they need to cope with traumatic and stressful events, as well as all of the daily issues and changes that come with growing up. The service is free, anonymous, and confidential.
Without the help of our organizing committees, and the two-hundred and seventy Ledcor participants, this year’s contribution would not have been possible. Ledcor believes in the importance of caring about our communities and The Walk so Kids Can Talk is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Ledcor’s True Blue Spirit while supporting a very worthwhile cause.
