Ledcor-Haisla Limited Partnership (LHLP) is currently working on the LNG Canada (LNGC) Project in Kitimat. In May, the LHLP team, along with its subcontractors and Haisla Nation members, participated in a month-long fundraising event in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, showcasing our True Blue spirit onsite.
"On all of our projects, we look for positive ways to give back to the local community in which we are working in," says Jairus Weber, Project Manager. "We registered a team to participate in the annual Relay for Life in Kitimat and leading up to the event, we hosted several fundraisers on site, raising thousands of dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society."
The main fundraiser was hosted on May 21 at the LNGC Project Site in Kitimat. Over 75 staff attended, raising over $1,600 for the Canadian Cancer Society prior to participating in the Kitimat Relay for Life on June 4th.
Ledcor was proudly represented at the Relay for Life by over 12 staff and trades from the LNGC Project, as well as special guests from the Haisla Nation. Our team had the most participants at the Relay and placed 3rd for fundraising, raising a total of $2,790 for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS).
In addition to the monies raised for the CCS, Ledcor's corporate match of $2,790 will be presented to a local charity – the Kitimat Child Development Centre Association, which provides specialized services to children who are challenged physically, intellectually, socially, and/or emotionally, including essential services like youth programs, adult support services, housing summer and immigration and newcomer to Kitimat support services.
