Ledcor employees demonstrated their caring spirit and the company showed its commitment to giving back by collectively raising over $1.1 million for children’s charities in the company’s annual fundraising drive. Funds were raised through employee contributions and fundraising activities spanning across Ledcor’s North American operations, as well as a direct match by the company.
Charity recipients included 16 children’s hospitals – notably, BC Children’s Hospital, Alberta Children’s Hospital, Rady’s Children’s Hospital, Sick Kids, and Janeway Children’s Hospital – various United Way locations and Make-a-Wish chapters, and children’s charities local to each office, such as Canuck Place, Covenant House, Little Warriors, and the Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation. Also on the list of charities were youth-oriented causes such as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Chrohn’s and Colitis, and Autism.
Direct employee pledges totaled $494,698 and $57,562 was raised through fundraising initiatives at various offices and job sites. To encourage participation and to reflect one of Ledcor’s company values of promoting good citizenship, the company matched all employee-raised donations during the campaign, bringing the grand total raised to an impressive $1,104,520.
The three-week campaign was launched with BBQ’s and pancake breakfasts, followed by live auctions, 50/50 raffles, Jeans Days, a samosa sale, a pie throwing contest, and an indoor golf tournament.
Over the course of the campaign, employees embodied Ledcor’s vision statement, “Forward. Together.” by also giving of their time as well as their wallets, such as catering and serving lunch to families at Ronald McDonald House Northern Alberta and Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.
