Ledcor employees once again showed their giving spirit by raising over $800,000 in pledges and employee fundraising during the 2017 Employee Giving Campaign. With the Ledcor corporate match, the total donations reached more than $1.6M for over 200 charities in Canada and the US; dedicated to helping children and families facing difficult social and medical challenges.
Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is a key part of Ledcor’s core values and culture. Ledcor offices across North America dedicated the entire month of October to raise funds through employee contributions and fundraising activities, which were corporately matched dollar for dollar. Money raised will go towards charities supporting:
Employees from across all of Ledcor’s divisions organized fundraising activities that raised over $125,000. Events were supported by many local companies who donated prizes and their time to help with BBQs, hockey tournaments, silent auctions, games, and friendly competitions. As well, over 500 hours were donated to making lunches for families in crisis and helping to stock local food banks.
“It was a privilege to be involved with the campaign,” said Iain Morris, Chief Operating Officer, Ledcor Technical Services, and Executive Sponsor of the 2017 Ledcor Cares Employee Campaign. “The participation of our employees and the tremendous work of the volunteers makes me proud to be part of the True Blue team. Attending the events and hearing from the various charities about how our donations have made a difference was inspirational.”
Some of the funds raised from the Ledcor Employee Giving Campaign will specifically go towards new pediatric medical equipment and hospital programs and services such as the Stanton Territorial Hospital Cancer Care Navigation Program in Yellowknife and the Motion Analysis Centre at Janeway Children’s Hospital in Newfoundland.
Funds will also support wish granting, hot meals for homeless youth, youth help programs, assistance for children living with juvenile diabetes, cystic fibrosis and autism, and contribute to a family’s sense of peace while their child is going through an incredibly stressful medical journey.
We are proud that the funds raised can support the many areas that break down the obstacles and barriers caused by medical and economic hardship within our local communities.
