Last September, Ledcor’s Kelowna Branch hosted the 13th Annual Korol Cup Hockey Challenge which brought together players from across Ledcor for a weekend of teamwork and camaraderie.
The three-day hockey marathon involved 92 players – including employees from 6 different Ledcor groups and nine cities. We were also joined by many Ledcor partners (sub-trades and suppliers) to make up eight teams. Team Grey, led by Matt Lantz of Constructors Edmonton, triumphed as the 2017 Tournament Champions.
The 2017 event raised a total of $55,000 for the Trevor Korol Memorial Awards through tournament sponsorships, 50/50 draws, merchandise raffles, and generous employee contributions that were matched by Ledcor. A huge thank you goes out to the many volunteers, sponsors, players and the organizing committee for a successful tournament!
The Korol Cup helps employees build relationships with others across the company in different divisions, groups, and cities – a perfect example of “One Ledcor”!
About the Korol Cup Hockey Challenge
Trevor was a young enterprising individual with the promise of a great career at Ledcor. Following a tragic plane crash that claimed his life in 2008, the tournament was renamed in his honour and in collaboration with his father, David Korol, a fund was established to provide scholarships at NAIT for deserving technology students. Two additional endowment funds were established at SAIT and BCIT. To date, $354,000 has been raised, and 67 scholarships have been awarded to students.
