Since 2007, Ledcor has been a strong supporter of Covenant House Vancouver, specifically, the Rights of Passage Program, and initiative that, through the Give a Day, Build a Life campaign, directly supports 25 youth committed to transforming their lives. This transitional living program provides homeless and unsupported youth with safe, affordable housing and supports them as they work towards self-improvement, stability and independence. With this support, individuals are able to pursue education and employment goals, taking all the time they need to feel confident and equipped with the life skill required to being on their own. Life transformation begins with having a safe place to call home, and that is exactly what the Rights of Passage program provides. The program has found, in its 14 years of operation, that youth dedicated to getting off the streets thrive when they are accepted unconditionally and can live, work and learn together in a family-like environment.
This past month, Ledcor’s Manager of Employee Giving, Kristin McAllister, went on a tour of Covenant House Vancouver, with the Manager of Rights of Passage, Chelsea Minhas, and Jessica Slater, Development Officer – Foundation & Corporate Giving. Over the last three years Ledcor’s Employee Campaign has raised $147,603 for the program. Since 2007, Corporate support of Covenant House has amounted to $181,506, which combined with the money raised in the Employee Campaign totals $329,109 given in support of Covenant House.
We recently received this heartfelt thank-you note from Covenant House in response to our recent donation efforts:
The Ledcor Cares spirit is helping change lives here at Covenant House Vancouver. We are so very grateful for Ledcor Group’s ongoing commitment to help homeless young people in addition to the generous personal support of your employees. Thank you for keeping youth in your hearts and helping them strive toward stable independence. We appreciate your consideration to continue this life-changing impact in young lives and our communities.
Thank you for your support of these youth and this campaign. You have redefined a day in the life of homeless youth, changing it from a day filled with uncertainty to a day of stability. We are grateful that Ledcor Group has helped our young people since 2007 and we appreciate your continued partnership.
