PRESS RELEASE - VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre, a partnership between the Clarke Group of Companies and The Ledcor Group of Companies, announced a $22 million harbour development that will include new seaplane docks and terminal facilities.

Located in front of the Vancouver Convention Centre, the development will replace the existing temporary seaplane facilities that are slated to be de-commissioned once the new
permanent facilities open.

“Vancouver’s new seaplane facilities will create an atmosphere of comfort and service to further enhance the experience of Vancouver’s bustling seaplane industry,” said Graham Clarke, Chairman of Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre. “Increased traffic and passenger preferences will support new flight destinations, enabling better access to BC’s coastal regions. This will help stimulate business and tourism sectors throughout the province.”

The waterlot development will include 360 meters of seaplane docks (approximately 18 seaplane slips) offering greater capacity than the current temporary seaplane facility. The seaplane terminal facilities will occupy approximately 600 square meters of the Vancouver Convention Centre (3500 level) and will include ticketing counters, baggage and cargo handling, and a passenger lounge. The facility will also accommodate approximately 400 square meters of retail, food services and office space.

“The central location of Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre will give a boost to retail and services located near the eastern seawall, “ said Scott Lyons, President of Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre.

Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre will be easily accessible by public transit through Waterfront Station, Vancouver Convention Centre parking and taxi services, and by the seawall east of Jack Poole Plaza. A new elevator tower will ensure that passengers and physically challenged visitors can easily access the facilities and seawall.

The new seaplane docks and terminal facilities are scheduled to open in Spring 2011. Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre will own and operate the new facilities.
