Vancouver, BC. Ledcor is proud to announce its commitment to Canada’s Net-Zero Challenge, in line with its core values of minimizing adverse environmental impacts on land, water, air, and the ecosystems in which it operates.

Canada’s Net-Zero Challenge is a Government of Canada initiative that encourages businesses to develop and implement plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050.

“Ledcor’s pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 underscores our unwavering dedication to environmental leadership. We recognize the imperative nature of addressing climate change and remain committed to pioneering sustainable solutions that benefit our planet and communities.”

– Jeff Watt, President, Ledcor Industries

Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is one of Ledcor’s top sustainability priorities. Since its first corporate GHG inventory in 2009, Ledcor has made numerous changes and investments that have helped reduce emissions amid business growth and diversification.

This commitment is demonstrated across Ledcor’s operations and in some of its signature building construction projects, including 147 LEED buildings to date with more than 90 certified Platinum or Gold. The LEED Gold buildings in River Landing also boast significant energy savings and a remarkable 21 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, Ledcor’s involvement in the development of a One Planet Living Community at Zibi, featuring 9 interconnected buildings and a thermal plant that share energy and heat via a zero-carbon district energy system, further reduces carbon emissions.

In alignment with the Government of Canada’s Net-Zero Challenge, Ledcor will begin working towards creating its net-zero plan and setting interim reduction targets.
